Effective August 30, 2026
1. Who is responsible
Cedar General is responsible for the personal information under its control. Questions, requests, or complaints can be sent to our privacy contact at hello@cedargeneral.com.
2. Information we collect
Website inquiries
When you use our inquiry form, we collect the business name, service area, contact name, work email, website or preview link, and the details you choose to provide about your goals.
Clients
If you become a client, we can also collect billing records, payment status, domain and listing details, service requests, website content, approvals, support messages, and account access information needed to provide the service. Payment providers can collect payment-card or bank information directly. Cedar General does not need to store full payment-card numbers.
Technical information
When you visit the site or submit a form, our hosting provider can process standard technical data. This can include your IP address, browser and device type, request time, requested page, and security signals. We use this information to deliver and protect the site.
3. Why we use the information
We use personal information to:
- Review and answer your inquiry.
- Research your business and prepare or revise a private website preview.
- Set up, host, maintain, secure, and support a client website.
- Manage domains, business listings, billing, reports, and approved requests.
- Keep records of consent, approvals, service activity, and legal obligations.
- Detect spam, abuse, fraud, and security threats.
- Comply with law and protect our rights.
We will identify any new purpose and seek consent when the law requires it.
4. Consent and communications
Submitting an inquiry gives us permission to use the information to assess the request and reply. We do not add inquiry contacts to a general marketing list.
If we later ask you to receive marketing emails, we will use a separate opt-in where required. Commercial messages will identify Cedar General and include a working way to unsubscribe. You can withdraw consent, subject to legal or contractual limits, by contacting us.
5. When we share information
We do not sell or rent personal information. We can share only what is needed with service providers that help us operate, such as:
- Cloudflare for website hosting, security, form processing, and email delivery.
- Email, billing, accounting, domain, and customer-support providers.
- Search, map, directory, and business-listing services when you ask us to manage a listing.
- Professional advisers, regulators, law enforcement, or courts when reasonably required or permitted by law.
Service providers can use personal information only for the work they perform for us, subject to their contracts and applicable law.
6. Processing outside Canada
Some service providers operate in other countries. Personal information processed outside Canada can be subject to the laws and lawful access rules of that country. We select established providers and use reasonable contractual and technical safeguards.
7. How long we keep information
We keep inquiry information for up to 24 months after the last contact, unless you ask us to delete it sooner or we need it for a legal reason. We keep client service and billing records while the relationship is active and for up to seven years afterward where needed for tax, accounting, dispute, or legal purposes.
We delete or anonymize information when it is no longer reasonably needed. Backups and provider systems can take additional time to cycle out deleted data.
8. Security
We use safeguards that are reasonable for the sensitivity of the information. These can include encrypted connections, restricted access, secure hosting, authentication controls, updates, monitoring, and service-provider reviews. No internet service can guarantee absolute security.
9. Your choices and access rights
You can ask us to:
- Tell you whether we hold personal information about you.
- Give you access to that information, subject to legal exceptions.
- Correct inaccurate or incomplete information.
- Withdraw consent or ask us to delete information that we no longer need.
- Explain how we have used or disclosed the information.
Send a request to hello@cedargeneral.com. We can ask for reasonable proof of identity. We will respond within the time required by applicable law.
10. Cookies and analytics
This website does not set advertising or analytics cookies and does not load third-party tracking scripts. Essential hosting and security systems can still process technical request data as described above. If this practice changes, we will update this policy and obtain consent where required.
11. Information about children
The service is for businesses and is not directed to children. Do not submit personal information about a child unless it is lawful, necessary for the business website, and supported by suitable consent.
12. Policy changes
We can update this policy when our practices or legal duties change. We will post the new version here and change the effective date. We will provide additional notice when a material change requires it.
13. Questions and complaints
Contact our privacy lead at hello@cedargeneral.com. We will review and answer privacy complaints in good faith.
You can also contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada if you are not satisfied with our response.
